Our Environment
It’s everyone’s responsibility to care for the environment,
and being involved in the automobile industry, we take this responsibility more seriously than most.
All of our energy is green, and when you lease a car with us for the first time, we pay to offset your vehicle's emissions for the period of a year. We were the first car salary packaging company in Australia to do this.
Our carbon offset facility is enabled through our partnership with Greenfleet, a not-for-profit organisation that focuses on reducing the environmental impact of Australian transport.
How does it work?
When you novate a car with us, Greenfleet plants 17 native trees on your behalf.
These are planted on degraded land in rural Australia and last year 2010,
Autopia customers’ trees were planted near Yanac in north-western Victoria.
Your trees help create new forests and much needed habitat for a host of native species, as well as helping in the fight against salinity and erosion.
And of course, they absorb CO². 4.3 tonnes of CO² will be absorbed in their
lifetime, which is the same amount of CO² produced by an average car in one year.
You’ll receive a year’s worth of offset complimentary from Autopia, and once
this comes to an end, you have the chance to plant some more.
Since 1997, Greenfleet has planted more than 6 million trees on behalf of Australian motorists, reabsorbing 25,800,000 tonnes of CO², and the organisation was a recent finalist for the Biodiversity Award in the 2010 UNAA World Environment Day Awards and the Land & Biodiversity category in the 2010 Banksia Awards. We’re proud to support such an organisation, and we hope you will be too.
"Climate change is one of the most pressing environmental issues facing businesses today. Greenfleet is delighted to work with Autopia to offset greenhouse gas emissions on behalf of their customers. This arrangement sees new forests being planted in priority areas to soak up greenhouse gas emissions, improve soil and water quality and provide vital habitat for native wildlife."
