One of the largest gold producers in the world - Case Study
Before Autopia
Our client had two primary components to their vehicle policy:
- A large fleet of company owned tool-of-trade vehicles – customised utes and 4wds primarily used out on mine sites.
- Novated leases which were outsourced through one of the largest fleet managers in the industry.
Despite the fact that the majority of employees had the opportunity to salary package their own cars, only 40 had chosen to do so, and the company was reluctant to promote the benefit any further due to a host of problems.
Their dissatisfaction in the following areas prompted a move away from their provider:
Appalling customer service
At an individual driver and at a corporate level, our client was experiencing poor support, long periods of time before phone calls were returned and long delays in the production of quotes. Overall, a total lack of urgency from the incumbent supplier.
Poor advice
Many employees ran into trouble at the end of their lease terms due to poor vehicle selection advice. Extremely high exit fees were negating the benefits of salary packaging, and actually costing these individuals money, as opposed to saving them money.
Inadequate logistical support
Vehicle servicing options were inflexible and prohibitive for employees in remote locations.
Costly administration defects
The inefficiency of the service provider caused numerous problems for the business:
- late and inaccurate payroll advices
- unexplainable double billing
- sporadic budget reconciliations
- high FBT cost due to poor FBT year end management
- drawn out and costly termination process
Environmental responsibility concerns
As a responsible corporate entity, our client was seeking to reduce their carbon footprint wherever possible. The existing provider was unable to facilitate this request.
Our solution
A custom package was developed for the client, incorporating a contribution from the business towards every employee’s novated lease. This was then launched by means of a national communications campaign, followed by information and education sessions in remote locations.
Having been let down previously by their novated providers the business, and particularly the employees, were wary of salary packaging in general.
Despite their initial reticence, all issues and concerns were quickly addressed.
Customer service
Providing an exemplary one-on-one customer experience is a central part of our business model. Our driver testimonials speak for themselves.
Expert advice
All of our Vehicle Benefits Specialists are highly trained consultants, with vehicle, finance and tax expertise. We’re the only company in the industry that takes resale value into account, and our proprietary Total-Lifetime-Cost™ methodology ensures all clients are fully informed of the financial implications of every car they’re considering. This approach enables us to deliver better financial results than anyone else in the industry.
Comprehensive logistical support
We’ve created a network of maintenance options for our customers, including over 6,500 petrol stations across the country, and the ability to nominate and include a new vehicle service centre, should one of our partners not be convenient.
Easy process
Because our business has been built around novated leasing, we’ve developed the most efficient systems around. Our efficient lease establishment process, hands on FBT management and fast termination process means we reduce the amount of admin required, as opposed to adding to it.
Carbon offsetting
All vehicles leased with Autopia come with a year’s worth of greenhouse gas emissions offset facility - paid for by Autopia, and enabled by Greenfleet.
Results
Over the last two and a half years, Autopia have more than tripled the number novated leases in the organisation from 40, to over 140. The number of leases is still on the increase.
In regards to FBT, the company reported a reduction in actual cost to the business, as well as a reduction in time spent on the process.
It’s now the most successful employee benefit the business has ever offered.
