A bit about me…

When I'm not helping someone get into their dream car, I’m usually washing my car or playing golf. It’s a great sport, something I find is a true test of the mind. My partner Penny and I actually met on the golf course by chance, and we share many common interests such as skiing and travel. We’ve been skiing in Canada, Japan and the US, where we managed to squeeze in a great road trip. I’m slowly bringing her round to sharing my interest in cars too. She’s also working on another test of the mind, naming all of the 37 cars I’ve owned!

My AutoPackage

I love skiing because I love speed. This translates into fast boats, and fast cars. That’s why I chose my current wheels, a Mazda RX8. I drive around 15,000 kms p/a, and have packaged my car over three years, with a minimum residual. I don’t normally hold onto cars this long, but I just love the RX8.

Favourite road trip

My favourite road trip at the moment has to be when Penny and I went skiing in California at the beginning of the year. Travelling from the north to the south of Lake Tahoe, we hired a car and drove along the lakeside. It was the most stunning drive, through tunnels and over bridges, keeping the frozen lake to our right hand side. Occasionally you could see snow covered beaches, and you could just imagine yourself lying out here in the summer, when it would be just as beautiful.

You weren’t sure what the weather was going to be like around the next bend, having gone through three weather changes in just a couple of hours, from sun to rain to snow, it certainly kept you on your toes. Although I’m used to driving sports cars, I was glad we had hired a Nissan Xterra 4wd for the trip. Definitely one of the best drives I’ve ever done.
