A bit about me…

Spending the last 15 years working in the automotive industry has given me the opportunity to develop and indulge my interest in sports, and cars, in particular the V8 Supercars.

Another real passion for me now is playing (and watching) golf, and my wife and daughter would certainly consider me a golf fanatic. My daughter’s participation and love of Irish dancing recently saw us spend a couple of weeks in the US, visiting Nashville (not the first place you would think an Irish dancing competition would be held), Memphis, New York and LA. New York got the vote as the place to go back and visit again!

My AutoPackage

Having grown up as a Ford fan and most recently driving XR6s and Territories, I’m now also a Subaru fan. My wife had driven a 2000 Subaru Liberty as a company car for many years without a hitch, so when it came to choosing cars that we were going to own we couldn’t go past the Subaru’s.

I currently package a MY11 Subaru Outback Diesel Wagon and my wife drives a MY10 Subaru RS Impreza. The Outback is a great car to package given its excellent resale value, and the diesel provides great fuel economy (needed for my 120km round trip each day). It’s also perfect to fit the golf clubs in and for those family trips away.  I can also maximise my tax benefits as it delivers a low Total-Lifetime-Cost™.

First car

1975 Ford XB Futura Sedan in brown, beige interior, bench front seat (with armrest), cruisomatic 3 speed column auto transmission, 155 horsepower six cylinder…my wife really loved learning to drive in that car!

Favourite road trip

Any road that that leads to a golf course is pretty good in my books. A couple of years ago we did a golf trip to Tasmania, and driving from Launceston airport to Barnbougle Dunes was a great scenic drive.

We had a couple of Toyota Tarago people movers, which were great for the guys and their gear on road, but not so good when the Navman took us down this ‘off the beaten track’ dirt road. We continued to drive as if we were on sealed roads until one of our occupants screamed “Stop the car now, I’m getting out!”…no sense of adventure.

The other memorable road trip was many years ago when my wife and I drove from San Francisco to Los Angeles, down the Pacific Coast Drive, spectacular scenery!

What I like most about Autopia

Working for an organsation that values its employees is great, but what’s even better, is that fact that this flows through to the customers.

My role is all about providing exemplary service to our corporate clients, and to know that the organisation behind me also has a strong customer focus, and a commitment to meet and exceed expectations – it just makes my job all the more satisfying, and easier!

It’s also a great environment, full of like minded car enthusiasts.
