A bit about me…

Growing up in a street where I was the only girl, I guess it’s no surprise I am a tomboy from way back.. Just as relaxed getting a facial with the girls as I am watching the Formula 1. I’m pretty sure I was male in a previous life.

My AutoPackage

I’m currently driving a Subaru Impreza that’s on it’s last legs. I do like Subaru’s, and plan to take out a novated lease on a Liberty in the near future. It holds its value well, it’s a decent sized and comfortable car – great for road trips, and I’ve driven Linda’s and loved it!

I will miss the Impreza though, or Sue as we like to call her. She’s been a trusty companion through countless night drives and accompanied me on many a Girls’ Weekend Away. She even saw me through back to back car accidents, where we shared the bruises and the heartache. I love her almost too much to part with her, but I do hear the Liberty calling… Shhh, don’t tell Sue.

First car

My first car was officially a 1967 VW beetle handed down to me by my Dad. Good in theory as it was sturdy and safe for his little girl. However, it was quickly swapped for Mum’s Lancer as I protested I needed a reliable vehicle to take me to and from TAFE at all hours of the day/night….it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I couldn’t drive a manual. Honest!

Favourite road trip

This one is a toss up between being a passenger in a mate’s Peugeot as we drove the Cote D’Azur or being behind the wheel of a convertible Mini driving around Hawaii.

I’d have to say, being in the driver’s seat edges out the competition. I love being behind the wheel and having the control and luckily for me (and most of Oahu), my best friend realized it was totally beyond her to drive on the other side of the road, on the other side of the car. She has trouble enough driving in Australia.

Hawaii in a Mini!

There was no destination, no need to be anywhere at a particular time, we could stop to appreciate the view, stop at the little shrimp shack on the side of the road where the garlic prawns were cheap as chips. Lucky the little Mini was convertible, there was far too much garlic circling in that car after lunch to have made it pleasurable! Diamond Head around sunset is a spectacular sight.

Unfortunately, searching for a non-existent surfing competition that I was absolutely sure was happening that day provided a few laughs and much ribbing when we got home.

What I like most about Autopia

Working with a team who are clearly passionate about what they do. The enthusiasm is infectious. Waking up in the morning smiling at the thought of going to work was on my bucket list. At Autopia, I can now cross that one off.
